HoneymoonView pictures of the honeymoon here! We had a great time honeymooning in Bricktown. We were a little nervous about having a honeymoon in August in Oklahoma, but the weather turned out great. Our hotel (the Colcord) was very nice and accommodating and had a great view of the Botanical Gardens. Saturday was Sarah's birthday and we celebrated by going to Zio's Italian Kitchen. We had been there before on a date to see Blast! in Oklahoma City but were pretty rushed to get to the show on time. This time we took our time. The food was great and Sarah celebrated her 21st birthday by getting a raspberry swirl Bellini, which she greatly enjoyed (see pictures). On Sunday we made our first trip as a married couple to Walmart before visiting the Botanical Gardens across the street from the hotel. The weather was great for walking through the park. We bought tickets to walk through the Crystal Bridge, which was interesting to see all the different plants from around the world. We walked down to Abuelo's Mexican restaurant in Bricktown for dinner and shared a very good combo plate that could have fed a small family of four. Sarah enjoyed some strawberry daiquiris. We walked down by the river and caught the last inning of an Oklahoma City Redhawks game. Then we visited Tapwerks, where we shared a Long Island Iced Tea. On Monday it started to rain. We ate lunch in a very cold Macaroni Grill, but the food was very good. We then visited the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. There was a very nice man there that talked to us for quite a bit and even gave us two cowboy themed pens as a wedding present! We spent about three hours walking through the museum and reading about the exhibits. The museum was huge but we enjoyed it and would recommend it to everyone. Later that night we visited the world-famous Cattleman's steakhouse. After we regained consciousness from the price shock, Sarah got a chicken fried steak and I got a sirloin steak. It was the best steak we had ever tasted! On our last day in Bricktown it was still sprinkling. We had a few other things we could have done, but we were pretty tired and ready to get back to Stillwater. We looked up a nearby bakery and went there for donuts. Then we loaded everything up and drove back to Stillwater! All in all it was a great trip and we really enjoyed it. We couldn't have asked for better weather, and it was nice to be able to do stuff within walking distance but still have enough free time to relax from stress of the wedding. We had a great time and thank you for all that helped to make it possible! |
